I'm a 21-year-old university student currently studying at Frostburg State University in Western Maryland. I started out studying towards a degree in Wildlife & Fisheries but towards the end of my sophomore year, I switched to study English with a focus on creative writing. That's why I decided to start this blog. I want to be able to write about my experiences and adventures for you to read.

I'm originally from the Pittsburgh area but grew up exploring the Laurel Highlands in southwestern Pennsylvania. This is where I really got my roots in the outdoors: fishing, hiking, skiing, etc.

I learned to ski when I was about 3 years old and started racing when I was in elementary school, although I didn't take racing very seriously until I was 14 or 15. I was pretty good in my state but when I graduated from high school, I decided to stop racing and just enjoy skiing for what it is.

About 3 or 4 years ago I started whitewater kayaking. I absolutely fell in love with the sport and have been working at Riversport School of Paddling for the past two summers teaching people how to kayak, and most of all, just have fun on the river. It's so awesome to be able to paddle and fish just about every single day. There is something so awesome about kayaking and being able to play with such a powerful natural force like the river. It also allows us kayakers to be in some of the most amazing places on Earth that most people would never get to experience.

I also started mountain biking a few years ago although I never really got into the sport until I went to South Africa in 2019 to study abroad. I studied at Stellenbosch University about 40 minutes from Cape Town. If you don't know, Stellenbosch is surrounded by some of the best mountain bike trails in the world. The area is home to several professional mountain bikers of all disciplines thanks to the incredible quality of the trails.

I chose to go to Stellenbosch mostly for mountain biking and to try to get into the sport, but once I got there, I realized that there is so much more to the area. I was in South Africa for almost 5 months and as you could imagine, I ended up going on a ton of different adventures and had so many cool experiences along the way. As I had hoped, the riding in the area was so good that I was instantly hooked on the sport and even now that I am back in the US, I am constantly looking for every opportunity to get out and ride my bike.
